my partner and I have always had cats, and since we moved to a small village unfortunately 2 cats in 3 years have been run over. This has left us with one very affectionate and now indoors cat as we feel that it is too risky allowing them to go out. Our cat is now 18months old.
My partner has wanted a dog for ages and I have been not so keen on this idea as we have cats and we used to work too much to justify a dog.
However, our work has changed now and we could potentially have one as I could take a dog out very early in the morning for half an hour and then my partner would be able to be with the dog and take it out at half past four in the evening.
I am still concerned that this leaves a really long time for a dog to be left alone. Is this too much time alone for a dog?
Also if it is possible for us to have a dog which ones can live with cats if they are socialised from being puppies? Once upon a time I had a husky and a kitten and they got on great. The Husky was female so I am inclined to get female dog as I hope they would be generally less aggressive towards a cat.
We were thinking if we were to get a dog of getting an English Bull Terrier.
Is this a terrible idea or not?
I did not find the right solution from the internet.
